Tikva means “hope” in Hebrew.
The table
A hot, nutritious meal for up to a hundred women and children every week, and a table where no one eats alone.
The trade
Job training that pays: sewing, baking and beauty-salon skills so women can earn a daily income, plus tutoring for their children in reading, writing and math.
The home
A home of our own, under renovation right now, with an industrial kitchen and added floors becoming short-term emergency housing, so mothers and children have a safe place to begin again.
The journey
Short-term trips each March and December for those ready to come and serve vulnerable communities in Medellín and beyond.
We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.
TIKVA was born on the streets of Medellín during the COVID-19 pandemic, as the Venezuelan migration crisis left more women and children than ever in extreme vulnerability. Founder Rebekah Slick and Team TIKVA answered with help and hope, and haven’t stopped since.
